A thrilling, fast-paced steampunk adventure set in a zombie-infested Seattle. I like how Priest weaves together a plausible alternative history with interesting characters, although I would like to know the origins of the mysterious Blight that turns humans into flesh-hungry “rotters.” It is described as a gas that was buried deep underground before being released to the surface, but that’s all. Either way, I enjoyed exploring this gritty world and discovering how Briar mends her estranged relationship with her son. Looking forward to reading more steampunk goodness from Priest.
Next month I will post a review of Anne Rice’s Interview with a Vampire. I found an old paper-back copy at a book sale and decided to give it a go. I’ve read the first twenty pages so far and it’s not too bad.
